Biking
The areas surrounding Oxelösund offer many excellent biking alternatives, both short and long trips.
Näckrosleden is a 700 km bike trail that runs through Sörmland. It is divided into 14 sections with each section intended to be a moderate day trip.
Sverigeleden is a bike trail for everyone who enjoys biking. The trail connects to the major ferry ports making it easy to access. The roads are lightly trafficked and of good standard.

Kustlinjen runs Öregrund-Stockholm-Västervik. There are also supplementary paths in the archipelago and on the islands. Kustlinjen makes it possible to combine biking and boat trips.

Bird watching
Oxelösund has many excellent locations for bird watching. The two most prominent are the vantage point at Femörehuvud and the Brannäs wetlands. You might well sight white-tailed eagles, terns and eider ducks.

Horseback riding
The riding school at Stjärnholms is beautifully situated in an area with lovely riding paths. It also has outdoor sand tracks, a riding school and cafeteria.

Hiking trails
Sörmlandsleden is a 1,000 km hiking trail around all of Sörmland, bypassing various types of landscapes, wilderness-like nature, areas rich in cultural traditions and historic landmarks. Choose between the many sections in Oxelösund, one of the most spectacular of which is Furön. Rent a rowboat in Gamla Oxelösund, row over the passage and hike through old cultural areas, forests and the archipelago landscape. Amazing!

Hälsans stig (Health trail) is a 6 km walk through the more central parts of Oxelösund.
Brannäs wetlands have an approximately 4 km trail. A large information sign with a map and points of interest along the trail is located next to the car park. Bird towers, barbeque sites and gorgeous cliffs for swimming and sunbathing can be found at the end of the trail.
The municipality's nature reserve on Femöre has several nice hiking trails that bypass various points of interest in both forest settings and the archipelago. There is a trail for physically disabled going down to Strandstugan where you can find barbeque spots, a generous sunbathing deck and restrooms. An information sign with a map and points of interest is located next to the car parks on Femöre.

Kulturstigen (Culture trail) in Gamla Oxelösund is a marked walking trail that guides you along the cultural spots of the old pilotage community. Enjoy coffee and cake at the maritime tavern which dates back to the 1600s.
